Chakam
Hey everyone, so I did a little fun side project called Chakam. It started out as this playful trend on X where people would say chakam — basically a way to call out a screenshot as proof or evidence. But I saw it as more than just internet slang. I started thinking about how we all take screenshots to remember stuff: a tweet that made us laugh, a motivational quote, an outfit idea, even petty receipts from group chats. Screenshots have kind of become our digital memory. That’s when the idea hit me. What if we had a dedicated space just for those screenshots? Something fun but also a little organized. That’s how the Chakam app was born.

📸 Chakam – A Screenshot-Saving Playground
Hey everyone, so I did this fun little side project called Chakam.
It all started with a playful trend on X. People would shout “Chakam!” when dropping screenshots as proof in conversations, receipts, memes, hot takes, or just general pettiness. It was hilarious, but beyond the humor, I started thinking… screenshots are kind of a new form of memory. We capture stuff we want to come back to, a tweet, an outfit idea, a funny convo, a quote that hit too hard.
So I thought: what if we built a space just for that?
That’s how Chakam came to life, a fun, dark-mode mobile app that lets you save, organize, and revisit your favorite screenshots. Not in a messy camera roll, but in a cozy little home built for them. Think of it as the digital drawer you never had.
Design-wise, I wanted it to feel playful but clean. The logo? A minimal camera icon with a bright yellow shutter dot — a little wink to the whole “caught you in 4K” vibe. The onboarding is straight to the point. The interface is bold but friendly. The folders let you sort your chaos, and search is there when you’re like “Where’s that one tweet again?”
What I achieved
Built out a full mobile flow, from onboarding to adding and managing content
Created a product that turns casual screenshotting into something intentional (but still fun)
Focused on dark mode for aesthetic and user comfort — because honestly, it just hits better
What could be better
I’d love to explore smarter screenshot detection and auto-sorting in future iterations
Tagging and note features could be more integrated and intuitive
There’s potential for social sharing or “collections” — like Spotify playlists but for screenshots
This was one of those projects where I let the culture lead the concept. It wasn’t about solving a “serious problem”, it was about recognizing how we actually behave online and designing around that. Chakam isn’t trying to change the world. It’s just here to keep your memes, your inspo, and your internet memories safe.
